I mentioned before that the people here are very warm and friendly, irregardless of whether they're trying to sell you something or not. The hospitality is unmatched, and I've noticed that they really love kids. They seem to pay an inordinate amount of attention to N, perhaps because he's a boy. Wherever we go, they dote on both him and his sister, but somehow they really hone in on him. When we walk past stores, they muss his hair or pinch his cheek, and always offer the two of them samples of their sweets. He loves it. When we stop in restaurants to eat, the drop everything and bring the kids chocolates or pieces of gum. Even customers sitting near us reach out and gently rub his cheeks, they can't resist. I can't say I blame them.
At first, I think it all bummed him out, he's not one for attention, but after awhile, he began to realize that there were fringe benefits to being a charming 7 year old, namely candy and treats. At some point, he'll look back on it and realize it's not such a bad thing, especially when he becomes an older teenager and wants to meet girls.
There's plenty of time until that moment arrives. Until then, thanks for reading.
