Baking Madness

One day after getting back from vacation and we're back into the frenzy of domestic life. We had to make something for J&NH, our neighbors, for helping us out with the tree, so we decided to make them our famous "rum-less" rum cake. We've made it in the past with and without rum, and personally I can do without the rum.

Since we had the oven going, we also made mom's raisin bread, some hearty country bread, and finally, a tray of pan cookies that we got from King Arthur Flour that is the best recipe I've ever made, it's more cake-like but works better for pan cookies. Best of all, you don't have to shape each individual piece, you just pour the whole thing in. I like that.

We were in a bit of a frenzy because we had to be somewhere in the afternoon, so we baked all morning and then ran off to do our chores, but not before delivering JH his cake, hot and fresh out of the oven.

Sounds frenzied but it sure feels good to be back home.

Until the next time, thanks for reading, and thanks to Karen Barefoot for the pic.
