Getting Ready for the 4th

I’ve come to the conclusion that the expression, “the lazy days of Summer,” is a misnomer if there ever was one. Summer can be hell, with so many things to take care of, and so many activities for the kids. They love it, but the unstructured days of childhood seem lost in world of our own creation. How did we get to this point?

For all it’s worth, the kids are having a blast and making friends, as well as hanging with old ones, but again, the time commitment is rough, especially for mom and dad. With that in mind, we have the 4th coming up, and the Old Home Day celebration promises to be busy and crazy, like all aspects of our lives.

We usually take part in the parade, and I went over and helped Transition Towns with their float and R and I will probably ride our bikes with them. The kids are going to be doing their own float activities, and once the parade is done, it’s going to be a long day of sun, heat, and humanity, fueled by a steady stream of junk food. I can’t wait.

Until the next time, thanks for reading, and thanks to Robert Linder for the pic.
