Wanting to waste no time, A&N wanted to get right into
painting the frame and the axles. My first thought was to wait until the
perfect time arrived, which is never, so it’s good the kids are running the
show because adults only clog up the machinery with their pensiveness and
doubt. They had plans on decorating the frame with certain designs, so the
first order of business was to get a base coat of white on it, then go from
there. The axles were to be black.
We had white paint lying around, and obtained black and red
from JM. It was once again a beautiful day, so I set up the kids with the saw
horses and brushes, and they went to work. They had a lot of fun, and again, it
worked best when I just stayed out of their way. They did a nice job, and since
it was so warm, they could easily put two coats on the same day.
The axles and frame look great, so the next step will be to
add details, and then (gulp), attach the front axle, which might be more of a
real-man’s job than I can handle, but we shall see. Then again, we still need
to make the seat.
