Another Track Setback

Boy, you really begin to realize that maybe middle school track just wasn’t meant for 5th graders. I'm not blaming any one individual, and I guess it sort of makes sense, because it is middle school track, and that usually encompasses grades 6-8. Whatever be the case, A was all set to run in her first track meet and break in her stylin’ new running shoes when the coach informed us that the 5th graders weren’t going to compete. How’s that for a bummer?

A took it all in stride, and in an odd twist of fate, the actual meet was cancelled because it started pouring rain, but it still seems like 5th graders aren’t always included in the festivities. I’m guessing they’re really just there to get an early start and gear up for the actual team, not unlike doing learn-to-play hockey. It’s not a bad thing.

Besides, A’s having fun with it, and that’s all that matters. Her first meet is coming up, so she’s looking forward to that, as we all are, though N has a lacrosse match, same time, same day, so we’re going to have to split up.

Until then, thanks for reading, and thanks to forwardstl for the pic.
