Another Track Setback

Boy, you really begin to realize that maybe middle school track just wasn’t meant for 5^th graders. I'm not blaming any one individual, and I guess it sort of makes sense, because it is middle school track, and that usually encompasses grades 6-8. Whatever be the case, A was all set to run in her first track meet and break in her stylin’ new running shoes when the coach informed us that the 5^th graders weren’t going to compete. How’s that for a bummer?

A took it all in stride, and in an odd twist of fate, the actual meet was cancelled because it started pouring rain, but it still seems like 5^th graders aren’t always included in the festivities. I’m guessing they’re really just there to get an early start and gear up for the actual team, not unlike doing learn-to-play hockey. It’s not a bad thing.

Besides, A’s having fun with it, and that’s all that matters. Her first meet is coming up, so she’s looking forward to that, as we all are, though N has a lacrosse match, same time, same day, so we’re going to have to split up.
